Equestrian, pedestal, pedestrians

Equestrian, pedestal, pedestrians
Statue of the local topgun Mannerheim was celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2010.

The peculiar camel-like gait of the horse has baffled generations. Disciplined horses like Cathy can go like this, they say, and from the artistic point of view this may look streamlined and rhythmic. But to someone coming from a place where horses are used as tractors, not poodles, this might look a tad funny. But then again, Cathy was from Sweden. :) To a casual animator, who has spent countless sleepless nights biting nails in trying to figure out how the f-ck do the horse legs go, this is pure blasphemy. :)

The year-span at the side of the pedestal belongs to the rider though, not the horse, who outlived her master by two years. According to his wish she had a special place in his funeral procession, which, incidentally or not, went down the street here in front of the statue.

Aleh Hubarevich, Rhisiart Hincks, Blueman have particularly liked this photo
