The Wee Shoes

The Wee Shoes
1851 William Lees, aged 16, becomes apprentice shoemaker. Six feet behind you, is the site of the corner shop, where he proudly works his trade. The wee shoes here, are cast from four little shoes he crafts to evidence his skill as a cobbler. His great, great, great granddaughter treasures the original wee shoes, in her home, in Helensburgh.

WOW!! Joe, this is so cool! I love this picture, and I love the lighting and bokeh so much! Great composition too. The story...it's just super...I feel pulled into this world thinking about it. How nice that these shoes were cast for us to appreciate all these years later. Thank you so much for this transporting presentation! :)

Thank you also for your wonderful comments on my pictures...you sure do make my day. :)

What an interesting link. They really are wee aren't they, and as you say to Janet, the lighting was just right. I must say I like a shoe museum. We have a good one in Street, Somerset, the home of Clarke's shoes, sadly mostly imported now. A superb picture. Cheers, Rosa.

Thanks, Rosa, I appreciate your very kind comment. I have photographed a few of the exhibits in the Helensburgh Outdoor Museum. I seem to remember I had a photograph of Stooky Bill on Panoramio. Cheers, Joe

A really fine shot Joe. The light falling on the shoes is just right for displaying the textures and the DoF makes them 'pop out' nicely.

All the best, Doug
