One of a kind? Isabella and Polaroid

One of a kind? Isabella and Polaroid
Just couldn't resist. I have been seduced… by Polaroid’s colour SX 70. Seeing so many artists using this highly characteristic medium for instant print gratification, only to be rivaled by today’s highly sophisticated digital photography. The quality of the colours and the softness of the image of the Polaroid are just some of the characteristics that have created a photographic style all its own in the finer art of photography.

And then there is Isabella. The perfect subject for this style of photography. Come to think of it, she makes a perfect subject to any style. Her perfect physical proportions, facial expressions and posing technique ( see video ) are stellar in grace and beauty.

Isabella and SX 70. A double seduction so-to-speak.

But alas, my old Polaroid camera has long been out of commission. So this is but a simulation. I used one of the images from our shoot on the stairs and Photo-shopped it to look like a Polaroid – colour balance, chemical streaking, paper frame and all. I left out two distinct characteristics that anyone that knows Polaroid would immediately notice. Although softening the image, I still left it to be much sharper than the Polaroid could ever be (view large image). And the second is the texture of the paper frame that holds the layers of emulsion and colour chemicals, comprising the image.

Of course, a labor of love on all aspects.
