This bill was returned to me with change at a mini-mart this past Friday morning. Later, I googled "Minnesota Fats rubber stamp", and found a few items of interest.

---
It was 1977, the Jointed Cue in south Sacramento was hosting their annual Budweiser 9 ball tournament on Fathers day. Mike Siegal won it that year, and I met Minnesota Fats. He was hilarious. By then, he must have been about 75 or so. He was a little shaky, like maybe Parkinsons was beginning to affect him. He told a story about playing straight pool in some dive in Detroit, in a second floor pool room. It had been raining all week he said, and the roof leaked. He said the floor let go and everyone, including the table slipped sideways and fell to
the main floor. Who knows if it really happened, but we were all laughing. Then I asked him to autograph a 5 dollar bill. The guy pulls out a rubber stamp "Minnesota Fats" and STAMPS it right across Abe Lincolns face!! I still have that thing somewhere in an album. That was his autograph.

---

Minnesota Fats rarely signed anything in holograph; he carried a self-inking rubber stamp of his signature which he used whenever asked for an autograph. When I inquired about how long he had been doing so, he simply - and predictably - declared, "since time began."

---

I murmured "Hello sir, can I" and with that he grabbed the poster, took a rubber stamp from the pool table and pressed it on an ink pad and then onto my poster, handed me back the poster and just said "Here ya go kid" and that was that.

When I got back in the car I unrolled the poster, seeing his rubber Minnesota Fats stamp on the poster thought "I wish I was so popular I could get my name on a rubber stamp instead of having to sign it by hand." Then I thought RUBBER STAMP!! Opened the window and tossed the poster and thought. "Screw him, he couldn't even sign by hand, a rubber stamp don't mean ****."

Wouldn't it be neat if it's what it looks like it is?

And then later Andy Warhol stole the idea from Fats, I guess! Good story.
