I should try to find these again. When I took this shot two years ago, I didn't loan those books by Adams. Next time I visited there, they were not available.

Yes, those authors are admirable =) I have previously read only Adams from this collection available in our University library.

There's another book about Ansel Adams "AA; Collection of letters and images, 1916-1984: Excellent history of early photography as well as of AA. I have the Negative and The Print, but haven't looked at them in years, and don't know where they are now. :)

Ol' Ansel was a true scientist-artist. His zone system is valid today ... I haven't tried it with digital, because the cameras are too damned self-willed, and it takes more patience than I've got to fiddle them into compliance, so I second-guess them and use Photoshop.
But for film, it's the definitive system ... even for colour slides. I made some modifications to my old Soligor spotmeter, for use with colour slides, and there weren't many shots that it wouldn't save for me.

Oh, I didn't know the zone system can be implemented also on digital photography.

Well, neither do I ... as I said, the effort of fighting through adapting the zone system to a digital camera (which is always making its own decisions) requires more patience than I've got. I'm old and cranky. But maybe someone like Elina could do it, since she seems to shoot everything in manual mode. And she's clever, too.

Same thing with me. I'm just way too lazy. Besides I have no space all the RAW images, which would be of course necessary to get decent images for the technique.
