Yes, they can be a lifesaver (camera) I especially like the one that came with my D10. That camera is hard to hold on to and I can put the strap around a wrist and tighten the lock and it will not come off.

I once wrote about this at My Opera blog. Can't right now remember why I uploaded this here =D

Original reason why I bought this type of a strap is the piece with what it is attached to the bottom of camera. It also prevents me accidentally pushing the button on bottom right corner.

That's handy ... I've got a few buttons that my non-Oriental fingers tend to push when I'm trying to do something else, and I find myself staring into the viewfinder at a pic I took yesterday, or my Manhattan Telephone Directory of menus. I try to be careful, but I think it would be good if the Japanese designers of these cameras would use a trained Westerner, or perhaps a Sumo wrestler to try the cameras out. I don't have very big hands for a Westerner, but my fingers are like bratwursts compared to a youthful Japanese.
I have a wrist strap, but I like yours a bunch better ... mine has a big ol' pad that gets in my way. I gave up on it.
BTW, Sami, that series of posts had something to do with one of MM's posts.
