You have got the effect of some kind of a horror movie here. It's late and we are looking through the eyes of some genius murderer =). Don't mind me and my wide imagination.
I like!

Yes Hitchcock was my first thought when you wrote " I'd love to appear, lets say in a long shot, filmed by someone else from a roof top walking down the street, on a bike, in a car etcc "
Imagination was never a problem for me =).

I like to have some evidence of a source of music be it radio, or something I do. Sometimes non attributed music is in the environment. The errant ghettoblaster etc,... car radio etc,... I do not feel it is ok for me to use other peoples music, or other imagery directly even if I attribute a referent to the artist who created it. This can be the same as pointing the camera at oneself in the context that if you are not Jean Luc Goddard working with the Rolling Stones on Sympathy for the Devil it's not cool to use your favorite tracks in your videos to essentially say, hey listen to my great musical taste, look at me, etc,... it's about as hip to do that lets say as to add comments like this to your own narcissistic videos? Well I am not perfect. I have used the afformentioned track in one of my videos, but in the context it appears I feel it is ok for my work. The video was broadcasting via tv and speakers outside a Hard Rock cafe in an outdoor mall type situation . I Let the sounds of the city interfere with my videos. If the Stones want to sue me for using thier song, I will in turn sue the Hard Rock Cafe, which they probably own by now. This will create a vicious circle. These are rules for me that I am playing with. I love other peoples work which breack them. I am subject to break my own rules? go figure.

This is to the point that I have been struggling with in this project. The notion of "prosumer narcissism" (look up Robert Frank,... he is a photographic influence who changed to film/video, It seems that I want to copy his aesthetic, Though I have seen only scant evidence of his film/video work) is at issue here. The 365 minutes project suggest that I appear in the tape, well rather that turning the camera on myself. Rather let the viewer see the my eyes? I can supplant pointing the camera at myself with narrative. This doesn't mean that I will go out to avoid my reflection in windows, mirrors, shiny surfaces, but try to build suspense by avoiding direct self disclosure. I'd love to appear, lets say in a long shot, filmed by someone else from a roof top walking down the street, on a bike, in a car etcc,... with a camera. Not appearing so much may build suspense. Hitchcock! Thanks for having a colorful imagination J.

I had all these rules drummed into my head by teachers in college. As I recall I didn't like their work so much, so maybe I am being hard on myself? I love putting cool music in my videos, even bad music.
