The Bagpiper

The Bagpiper

A street bagpipe player and incidentally my first "paid model" too! After tossing some coins in his bagpipe case and having received a nod from him I approached and shot this; having shared that moment we nodded and I went on my way.

Now I'm going quite off-topic, but the music used here is the theme from Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange and is perhaps used most effectively in the film when the topless actress Virginia Wetherell makes her entrance on stage in the middle of the film (though the repulsiveness of her hair colour makes one's attention drift a little... ;) ).

Roomeri: Kiitos/Thanks, it got so tight because I wanted also to get close to the christmas lights in order to get nice out-of-focus highlights (if I hadn't donated a bit to his carrying case I'd never have had the nerve to get so in someone's face, while I felt a bit uncomfortable he didn't seem to mind).

Moström: Tackar, är skoj på sitt sätt då det är banbrytande för mig med "betalda modeller" ;)

Thats funny, Scoo. While I love "Clockwork Orange" the movie, (and, btw., all Kubrick movies), I always disliked this piece of music. I never understood why exactly this piece was chosen in the film.
And now you use it under a picture of yours.
Hmm.

You prefer the quick Wilhelm Tell theme then I assume? ;) I find it a bit mystical and odd (like many electronica music of the 1970s) and yet dignified and regal (well, considering it's originally a funeral march..); thus fitting for a street musician who's in a way more a king of his own fate than many who have steady (and often office hours) jobs.
