Ooh, i'm not sure...know dogs and cats can only see in b&w, but my dog insists that isn't true as purple is her favourite colour ;)

okay, I just checked it. I was wrong. Bees just cant see the red areas of the spectrum of visible light but therefor they can see ultraviolett light. And the do receive light in a polarized way so they can tell the cardinal direction from the position of the sun during the day. (thx to wikipedia.:-)

I love that kind of thing. I believe it but always wonder how they find out - maybe conduct an interview with a wise bee? fit him with some special glasses to see his viewing techniques? ;D

markus a. loissonpro replies:
yeah, that I wonder too. but I guess - since humans are completely incapable regarding the languages of insects or other animals - they do it by testing the reactions of the bees when exposed to different visual stimulations... but thats just a wild guess. but maybee there are special glasses involved ;-)

...yeh, i like to think it's special little bee glasses...same frame as mine, only much, much smaller...and for bees ;)

markus a. loissonpro replies:
yes they have to bee optimizzzzed bee-glasses beecause bees have no ears, so standard human-style glasses would always fall from their heads... ;-)

sam i am replies:
Hmm, can see them wearing glasses beeing a problem then...hey, we could make little prosthetic bee ears?!!

markus a. loissonpro replies:
I like the idear (thinking about pointy spock-ears) but I won't bee the one who fixes them on their tiny heads! I don't like to get stung. ;-)
I'd rather develop bee-glasses with rubber-bands or sumthing alike which can easily bee put on and removed from their little heads...
