Wien, Rathaus / Vienna, Town Hall

Das "neue" Rathaus wurde von 1872 bis 1883 nach Entwürfen des Architekten Friedrich von Schmidt im Stil der Neogotik errichtet. Auf der Spitze des 98 m hohen Hauptturms in der Mitte der Vorderfront steht der Rathausmann, eine über 5 m hohe, aus Kupfer getriebene Gestalt in Form eines Standartenträgers in Rüstung.

The "new" town hall was built from 1872 to 1883 in the Neo-Gothic style according to designs by the architect Friedrich von Schmidt. At the top of the 98 m high main tower in the middle of the front stands the Town Hall Man, a copper figure over 5 m high in the shape of a standard bearer in armour.
