St Mary's Kirk

St Mary's Kirk
Ruined 13th-century church, with later additions, on a sea cliff at Cowie, Stonehaven, Kincardineshire.

Among the additions is the domed structure on the left, built circa 1830. It's a mort-house, a lockable storeroom for bodies pre-burial ("until they were no longer of any interest to body snatchers", as the leaflet delicately puts it).

Don Sutherland, John Linton, Sigmund have particularly liked this photo
