Crossing the Finnan

Crossing the Finnan
The Glenfinnan viaduct flies 100 feet (30 metres) above the River Finnan, carrying the railway line from Fort William to Mallaig. Glenfinnan, Lochaber, Argyll.

Made of shuttered concrete in 1897-1898, the viaduct was the first large structure in that material in Britain. It was designed by Simpson & Wilson and built by Robert McAlpine & Co.

Movie fans might recognise it from various Harry Potter films.

Richard Schultze, John Linton, Don Sutherland, António have particularly liked this photo
