Chanonry light

Chanonry light
This lighthouse guards the narrows between Chanonry Point and Fort George on the Moray Firth. It was built in 1846 to the design of Alan Stevenson and includes his characteristic 'Egyptian' style of keeper's house. Rosemarkie, Black Isle, Ross-shire.

Stevenson (1807-1865) belonged to a dynasty of lighthouse engineers (and one novelist).

Chanonry Point is a popular spot for watching dolphins.

Nora Caracci VERY BUSY, casino, John Linton, Don Sutherland have particularly liked this photo
