A 'spike' of excitement!

A 'spike' of excitement!
Despite the fact that I had just spotted an aggregation of Spiked shieldbug nymphs... (see in comments).

Despite the fact that there is no heather around for miles.... my heart STILL skipped a beat when I spotted this final instar Picromerus bidens nymph.

It was the bands on the legs that did it!! One of the ID features of the Heather shieldbug (yet not apparent on the nymphs funnily enough).

Still, it was a lovely find as I'd only previously found quite early instars!
