I think these look cool, but most HDR that I see do not look real. This looks like a fantastic sketch to me. Goes well with the border also!

Roberto Ballerini - travelingpro replies:
I'm trying to use HDR and tone-mapping for their original task: obtain shots with an higher dynamic range in difficult light conditions.
In this respect I think QtPfsGUI is superior to Photomatix, because I experienced every combination of lights, shadows, movement must be treated with a different operator and parameter setting.
The learning curve is very steep, but I'm starting to understand how to use it to obtain "realistic" or "painting-like" shots. What is difficult for me is understanding how to better choose the original exposures.

I took a look at QtPfsGUI after seeing your work and you are correct about the learning curve. In Photomatix, I would open a RAW file and click tone-map, and it would do its thing, usually with good results. Does Q work with a single RAW file, or must you have multiple shots?

I also think QtPfsGUI should win the award for hardest product name to remember.

It has been interesting seeing your results, even if I prefer more subtle tweaking.

My previous two shots are obtained tonemapping a single RAW shot.
