It certainly looks as if that tree trunk is marching away. In fact all the trees are moving - towards the edge of the wood?

It's waited too long for the escape attempt and started to put done more roots...............it's not going anywhere soon!

Three super images...........the main one has lovely light coming through the branches and great colours. The detail and textures in the trees are wonderful.

The first PiP also has lovely light and nice dappled shadows, particularly on the tree trunks.

The second PiP is just gorgeous. Those beautiful coloured fallen leaves look wonderful on the wooden slats.

I think you're right Keith. I took the same picture about 4 or 5 years ago! Don't know why it would want to escape Stourhead though :-)

Wonderful trees. I like the middle image best. The leaning trunks look so sculptural. The escaping branch is fascinating as well and the beautifully coloured leaves. I have favourite trees on all my regular walks and often say Hello and give them a pat as I go by.

Thank you Jean. I think that one is my favourite as well. There is an event at Stourhead called 'Whispering Woodfolk in the Trees'. I haven't been but I am told it is really atmospheric with storytelling and music.

In the first two photographs it's so amazingly impressive how the trees seem to be trying to escape in search for light.

A giant insect waiting to pounce on some unsuspecting photographer, great shot Rosa. I love curves of the trees and the light in the second image. The collection of autumn leaves in the third picture is very nicely done.
