My Dad...

... in 1965, about nine months after I was born. This picture appeared in our local newspaper today, who do a special article on South Tyrol back in the days and now. Read the entire blog entry here.

Thanks, Sherry. I'm sure, Dad will appreciate your comment ;-) B.t.w., the editor's office promised to send a higher-rez version of the pic via email, so I expect to be able to post a better version some time this afternoon. ;-)

He was 26 at that time. What was I doing at 26? Hm... let me see: Had just given up on my dream of being a professional musician and quit that band at that time, returned to Munich and dated a young lady, who succeeded in talking me into going to college, something I had procrastinated until then. My respect goes to them for facing the challenges of being young parents. I don't think, I wouldn't have done so well at that age.

WOW! You call that young?!?! I have a soon to be 13 year old. I'm only 31!! Been a mom for 13 years of my life...WOW!! Seems kinda odd...guess that's where I get the giving everything to everyone else part of me. ;)) Yes and you are right, all the respect to ANY parents at ANY age to tell you the truth. It's the toughest job EVER. Thanks for sharing!!

To me it appears young, Sara, yes. Wow, but now after learning you had your son at 18... wow! That's early! As for the toughest job: I know exactly, why I never dared to become a parent, myself - and most likely won't in this lifetime.

I didn't mean to make your parents situation insignificant. Sorry if it sounded like that. Yes, what did I know back then?!?! What were my dreams?!?! My gawddd....

I think you'd be a good dad. Really. I think you are good at taking the mistakes you have made and changing for the better. It's all a learning process Werner. There is nothing greater in this world to me than my children. The Love you feel is like nothing else EVER. My youngest just called me in there to see the "little tornado" that was in the bathtub while he was draining the water. So many things amaze them and it is so cool and funny at the same time. Anyhow...I'll email you. :)

I hear they're working on it. Unfortunately, the copy the newspaper sent, is the one I've posted already, so - no luck here...
