Ottilie Gerlinde Mueller ~ May 22, 2041 - January 27, 2014

my mother was laid to rest today

part of her Eulogy written by my son Ryan:

No matter where we are in our lives we are always looking for fulfillment and asking ourselves if we reached our goals in life. As a kid I once asked her what her job was. She said she was an Oma. I then replied yes I know you are my Oma but what does being an Oma mean? She responded by saying it's her job to spoil me and Nicole and make sure we were always happy. She followed up with "the moment we admit we are spoiled" that she would have to stop spoiling us. We would continue joking that "Oma we are spoiled" but she never did stop. She said her job was to keep us happy and loved. So I guess that made her an Oma to us all. She spoiled us all with her friendship and love. It's ironic that the joke we once had comes to an end and her job as "Oma" has come to an end. She fulfilled her goal of keeping us happy and loved. No matter what hardships you were facing at work. Whatever horrible news you had just received. She was always there to talk and cheer you up. To enjoy life. Whether it was a birthday party. Her annual Christmas party. Lunch at the farm. A weekend at the trailer. Or one of her big family reunions. She forced you to forget the bad and enjoy the company of family and friends and have fun. She knew how to make us smile. Knowing her she'd want us to think like her and ask "when is the next party?" Help me get ready, here's the grocery list and what you're making. I need this and that and it'll be great...
Her life was too short but it was full of fun and love. I learned that it you don't share, give, appreciate and enjoy it, it just seems shorter. Don't try and find time. Make time, celebrate life. Tell those you love you love them while you can.

I'm so sorry, Renee. This is very beautiful and sad, and captures the aching loss that you are feeling. I've been there, know how brutal it is. Please take care of yourself.

I am terribly sorry for your loss. Your son wrote a painfully beautiful eulogy. She must of been an amazing woman. Loss is hard, I've also been there a few times recently. You just have to try and fill the ache with happy memories. /soothe
