Excellent Ragnheidur!! Do you take photgraphs in RAW format? (I wonder if that's why the EXIF gets missed..?) Anyway scary this may be, but it's also amazing! Nice work! :D

Yes I do take all pictures in RAW. Do you know if I can make the EXIF stay when I convert them for the web???

NigelKA replies:
Well from what I understand (although I have used digital cameras for several years, I have only had my new Nikon DSLR two weeks!! :)) it depends on the software you use to convert your RAW files to JPG.

What is more EXIF can be extracted and saved to the JPG files, it just depends on which RAW format you use - Nikon, Canon, Olympus all seem to use different ones. I will certainly try to take a RAW format photo at the weekend and see how I get on with it!! :)

Had the same prob. Was told that you basically lose the EXIF if you chose "save for web" (PS Elements). But you keep it if you choose "Save As..". Uncheck the option "Thumb(nail)" before saving as Jpeg (not sure if its the right term, use a german version). If you use a compression about 7-9 you should get a acceptable size (you can see it in the compression window too) without losing quality.

So so beautiful, Ragga!
But I have to ask you, how you spend your nights? I guess it's the only time of the day, when you're free to take photographs, because your son is sleeping, isn't it?

Ragnheidur pro replies:
LOL good question actually :o) But this is all taken the same night, most nights I spend with my family... Sometimes I take them with me, atleast one or two of them (I have 3 sons and a husband :o)

Wonderful. Very impressive!

As for the EXIF data - do you possibly use the "Save to web" function in Photoshop? This deletes the EXIF info from the JPG files. You could prevent it by using the normal "Save to" function.

In case you're using the JPG files generated by a RAW converter software, it may be a matter of settings in that software.

Hi Ragnheidur and Spectacles... I've just been using PhotoShop Elements and can confirm that Save for Web doesn't save EXIF within the pictures either! Thanks for the info Spectacles - I had not noticed that before :))
