Beautiful night...

... and I was out with my family... Because of my PAD I had my camera with me BUT there was no exciting background near and it was late SO this is all I could come up with for those beautiful Aurora Borealis... Will try to find more interesting background next time :o) I really have to say to all of you that have never seen them, these lights are among the most beautiful things I have seen!!! Lying in the grass on a peaceful place with nothing to do and nowhere to go and watch those - uha :o)

Voru norðurljós í kvöld? Maður er svo vanur því að það sé rok og rigning að maður kíkir ekki einu sinni út!
Bleiki liturinn er æði á móti græna litnum í norðurljósunum :D

Norðurljós ó já!!! Þau eru sko all over núna... Blönduðust svolítið saman við flugeldana og ég sá þau ekki almennilega fyrr en við keyrðum útá Álftanes þar sem engin bæjarljós voru... Hefði verið gaman að vera á fallegum stað :o)

Breathtaking! Great work! Can I see those Aurora Borealis in spring or in summer?
Posted 23 months ago. ( permalink )
Ragnheidurpro replies:
Hm - not during the brightest time, the sun doesn´t go under the horizon here during the summertime BUT for the first time I saw them in August last year!!! You can never be sure of seeing those lights but the most change is during the winter time, my guess is from end of October through Mars!!!!

A really beautiful view of an Aurora borealis. Maybe this year I will be in in Iceland for the second time, but in the summertime again. I fear there's no chance to view polar lights.

"Lying in the grass on a peaceful place with nothing to do and nowhere to go and watch those - uha :o)" - I guess, I could well settle for that ;-) No interesting background, you say? I find it totally enlightening! :D

Ragnheidurpro replies:
But there are so many better places here to use as background for pictures like that - I was just not close to them that night :o)

Elena. replies:
You have like 360 more days for those other backgrounds ;o). I like this picture. It has a fantastic background - especially for all those who've never seen the Northern Lights (like me).
Welcome to the PaD-Group. I hope you'll continue after January.

It's a wonderful image! I love the Aurora Borealis - we used to see them often in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin, but then I moved south where we can't see them anymore. You have such spectacular displays there!
Posted 23 months ago. ( permalink )
Ragnheidurpro replies:
IT is actually hard to see them when you are inside a town full of lights... But driving for a few minutes takes one out of the bright "city lights" here in Iceland and then the view is sometimes spectacular :o)
