Das erstaunliche Kunstwerk "Mural de la Prehistoria" (prähistorisches Wandgemälde) ist auf die Wand der Mogote Pita in der Sierra de los Órganos, 4 km westlich der Stadt Viñales, im Westen Kubas gemalt.
Die Arbeit an dem prähistorischen Wandgemälde begann 1961 nach dem Entwurf von Leovigildo González Morillo, der sein Wissen hauptsächlich von dem berühmten Künstler Diego Rivera gelernt hatte. Mit einer Länge von 120 m ist das Wandgemälde eines der grössten Freiluftgemälde der Welt, und es dauerte vier Jahre und zwanzig Bauern, um es fertigzustellen.

Als ich in 2010 Kuba war, wurde die Wand gerade restauriert. Zwei Männer hingen an Seilen und haben mit Pinseln die Farben nachgemalt! (► Siehe PiP)

Ja, es ist wirklich unglaublich! Bei geschätzt 120 x 40 m ergibt das eine Fläche von ca. 5'000 m2! Und das alles mit dem Pinsel übermalen!
Naja, man hat ja sonst nichts zu tun. ;-)

Ich habe schon viele prähistorische Wandmalereien gesehen (z. B. in Spanien und Frankreich , Poly, aber noch keine in solchen kräftigen Pastellfarben :-). Es muss schon beeindruckend sein, wenn man plötzlich vor diesem Felsen steht.

als ich Ende 2019 dort war, waren die Farben ganz schön satt....nicht nur das Gemälde ist außergewöhnlich, sondern auch das Viñales Tal ist was Besonderes, vor allem wunderschön zum Wandern....
