"Mirage Gstaad" von Doug Aitken.
"Mirage Gstaad" ist eine ortsspezifische Aussenskulptur des in Los Angeles lebenden Künstlers Doug Aitken und ist bis Frühling 2021 in Gstaad zu besichtigen.
In der Tradition der Land Art, die die Träume und Bestrebungen widerspiegelt, die auf den amerikanischen Westen projiziert werden, präsentiert Mirage Gstaad eine sich ständig verändernde Begegnung, in der Subjekt und Objekt, innen und aussen, in ständiger Bewegung sind. Da sämtliche Oberflächen spiegelverkleidet sind, absorbiert und reflektiert die Skulptur die sie umgebende Landschaft, sodass es scheint, als verschwände ihr Äusseres und als zöge ihr Innenraum die Betrachtenden in ein nicht enden wollendes Kaleidoskop aus Licht und Reflexionen. Mirage Gstaad zieht die Landschaft ein und reflektiert sie wieder. Aus dem klassischen einstöckigen Vorstadthaus wird eine perzeptuelle Echokammer, die endlos zwischen dem Traum von unberührter Natur und dem Streben nach ihrer Eroberung hüpft. Vor dem Hintergrund des Videmanette Gebirges bringt Mirage Gstaad die Idee von "Manifest Destiny" und des amerikanischen Westens in Kontakt mit der europäischen Landschaft und der Tradition des Erhabenen.

Mit der Vogelwarte Sempach wurde ein Schutz entwickelt, damit Vögel nicht in die Spiegel fliegen. Alle drei Zentimeter weist die Fassade einen schwarzen Querstreifen auf, der das Gebäude für Vögel sichtbar macht.
Aber das Projekt war nicht unumstritten und wird im Ort kontrovers diskutiert. Das grösste Problem scheint zu sein, dass das Projekt ziemlich abgelegen steht und alle versuchen, mit dem Auto möglichst nahe hinzufahren. :-)

With the Sempach ornithological station a protection was developed to prevent birds from flying into the mirrors. Every three centimeters, the facade has a black horizontal stripe that makes the building visible to birds.
If you look at the picture in large view, you can see the fine lines on the facade. :-).
