Yes, I saw the sequel, but the film is not nearly close to its predecessor. In contrast to the mystical 2001, 2010 was only a solid science-fiction film. But SAL was great. :)

not Karen, but Wally ... not Maine, but Maryland (I spend part year in DownEast Maine, and part year in Central/Piedmont Maryland) ... tornadoes are infrequent in Maryland, but not unheard of; maybe one per year throughout the whole state ... but this was a nasty weather system that moved from Texas all the way to Northeast US, spawning killer tornadoes in Texas and the Southeast ... so along with better weather radar and a tendency nowadays toward sensationalizing weather events, every electronic device in the house spent all evening&night automatically beeping out dire warnings ... though it is kind of scary when the red danger zone covers your town on national TV ...

But, about Maine: in your profile is a map and there is marked: I am currently here and it points to East Machias, Maine. Is this a small excuse? :-)
Fortunately tornadoes are not an issue in Switzerland. But I saw the impact of Hurricane "Andrew" in octobre 1992 in Florida. That was terrible.

Tornadoes and wildfires are awful: they can destroy everything/every thing one cherishes in such a short time.
