Sacrilege!

Sacrilege!
...and the relatively colourful scene looking across Heath Mill Lane, Deritend, towards the juxtaposition of opposing architectural styles of the religious looking former Free Library building c1866 and the revamped former Custard Factory building.
Seen from the rear courtyard of The Old Crown pub in Deritend, which is the oldest extant secular building in Birmingham and allegedly dates from 1368.

I am sure I have read somewhere that it is written in the 'Magna Carta' that all GPO telephone boxes will be painted in 'Post Office Red'!

Explored!

Perhaps this is a disused one taken over by a community group? I've come across several being used as a book exchange in villages where there are no local shops or library. And at Shipston-on-Stour one had a phone on the outside as well as a cash machine!

Without doubt this is just one of the many thousands of decommissioned boxes, which anyone can purchase. My point was intended to be that 'Post Office Red' is part of our national heritage ....and along with the Queen and London buses, a major attraction for pulling in tourists to the UK.

The box in your link is a credit to the local community.

Such an eclectic mix of objects in this shot Neil. Lots to look at and enjoy. I really like the "new look" telephone box, especially as it's been repainted so well. I also like the shape and style of the balconies on the old Custard Factory building. The painted van also looks interesting - did you take a full length shot of it?

Oh, nearly forgot...............nice selfie - a ghostly presence inside the telephone box!

I appreciate your lengthy positivity on this one, Keith. Even though it does not appear to conform to any known practices of style.
Sadly I did not take a full shot of the van and I cannot think why I didn't. Though I did shoot a couple of other vehicles which were covered with artwork.
I did not realise it was me in the phone box and I don't recall going in there ;-)

Thank you, Martin. At least you noticed it. Several people walked by without noticing it as they were looking the other way!

That sounds like an oxymoron, Norbert. Why do people enjoy seeing a mess? ;-)

This is out of order! King John and the Barons would have kicked up a stink about this phone box. Off with the culprits heads I say.
