This Standard class 4 2-6-4T loco was built at Brighton works in 1956 and withdrawn from service by British Railways from the Shrewsbury shed in July 1965 after a service life of just over 9 years.
It arrived at the Barry scrapyard of Dai Woodham in January 1966 and languished there until April 1973 when it became the 39th loco to leave there for a life in the 'preservation era.

Indeed yes, George. Out of a class of 155 similar locos 15 have managed to avoid the cutter's torch.
