Fenced off millpond for Stanway Watermill

Fenced off millpond for Stanway Watermill
...and separating the millpond from the 'Papermill Stream'.
Stanway Mill is just off short to the right, but then out of sight as it is considerably lower than the level of the millpond. The water drops to the mill through a concealed guillotine sluice. It is recorded that the Stanway Estate has had a mill since 1066 and then there were four of them being powered by this stream.
The stream then joins the River Isbourne at Wormington and eventually flows into the Avon at Evesham.

It's still Thursday here but the Antipodeans are well into Friday so HFF to all.
Plus....I plan to be out early tomorrow ;-)

Juleann, Wierd Folkersma, LutzP, LotharW and 3 other people have particularly liked this photo

A fence Constable would have enjoyed painting. It looks as though it needs a coat.HFF!

I wasn't aware he went around painting fences. I thought he was an artist. HFF to you too!

Nice one Neil, just woke up to all enveloping drizzle here after a cracking week weatherwise, so good luck.

I arose at an ungodly hour to take my wheels for an MoT and although it has been a lifeless overcast day, I have not seen any rain until it started drizzling a few moments ago.
I had the good luck with the MoT though and now look forward to a sunny w/e in the south.

HFF and a sunny weekend to you, Ben

Many thanks, Keith. I did not realise that the fence is posh. I took the short because I can't recall seeing one over a waterway previously. I suppose it keeps the whales out!
HFF and all the best for your w/e.

Many thanks, John. Although I would this would be too devoid of flowers to suit your taste....with just the few solitary daffodils on the far bank ;-)
