35005 'Canadian Pacific' at Barry scrapyard

Mono conversion from scan of a 35mm colour negative.

35005 Can Pac languished in Barry scrapyard for over seven years before being salvaged for preservation in 1973.

Thanks for your input Maurice.
After scanning my old railway slides & negs I recirculate most of them fully, by submitting them to auction. There is a big market for such images and I need the pennies ;-)

So sad to see them just thrown away as such.

Like the idea of making pennies from the pics though !

Dai Woodham purchased 250+ locos from British Railways, paying anything between 1700 & 7000 GBP for large locos such as this. Circumstances meant that his scrapyard didn't get around to cutting up many locos as his business concentrated on scrapping wagons.

By the end of the sixties railway preservation groups started buying these redundant steam locos and I think something like 211 were purchased for their scrap value on the day. The majority have since been fully restored and have become revenue earners again.
