Kerlingarfjöll

Kerlingarfjöll
Last week I went for a three day hiking trip to Kerlingarfjöll (The Giantess Mountains). They are situated between two large glaciers; Hofsjökull and Langjökull.

The Kerlingarfjöll area is one of the largest geothermal areas in all of Europe and is truly a hikers paradise... and a place where fire and ice meet and co-exist :o)

I tried to capture the beauty of the place but I find my photos very lacking in the real atmosphere of the place... the wide spaces, the incredible colours, the sounds, the smell... it is something that has to be experienced :o)

Original size ... a must :o)

My Kerlingarfjöll album.

Rachel Moore, Bobby Edwards, Albert, Peter Vinge and 10 other people have particularly liked this photo

Looks like metallic gold tones here. Probably from all those mineral salts bubbling up from the earth.

Pixie - It looks like that you have a Front Seat View of Platontic Drift of the Continental Plates as they Crash Into One Another Forming Mountains. Iceland is an Awesome Evolution of Dynamic Geography.

Your Photo Captures the Raw Beauty Very Well.
