A National Treasure 


Jökulsárlón is surely one of our national treasures and represents one half of the dynamic duo our country is known for (fire and ice) :o)

Today is our National Day, the day that The Republic of Iceland was formed (in 1944), becoming independent from the Danish Monarchy.

Thanks Nigel! I quite like the Danes yes, lived in Denmark for 6 years and loved it!

Hehe... wouldn't that be grand... having a couple of thousand years old ice in the drink :D

... and in Icelandic we say: "Ísland lengi lifi! Húrra!" ;o)
