The view over Hafnarfjörður and Reykjavík 50 seconds before midnight on New Year's Eve. The weather was a bit windy and I didn't quite get the photos I wanted :o)

I suggest a bit larger size

You had a great show for New Year! Is it every year so splendid?
Posted 11 months ago. ( permalink )
Pixiepro replies:
Yes, but this year it was a little less splendid than usual because of the financial crisis... but usually everything goes crazy around midnight here :o) Iceland is known worldwide for this and in the past years people from abroad have come to spend the New Year's Eve here and watch the show/chaos/crazyness, including some famous actors and movie folks ;o)

You are celebrating Christmas tomorrow, aren't you?
Posted 11 months ago. ( permalink )
Angelapro replies:
I guess the financial crisis is an additional reason for celebration in order to give people more positive emotions in bad times... ;-)

Today is the Christmas Eve and tomorrow will be the holiday itself. I have to say, most people in Russia have almost forgotten religious traditions because of antireligious propaganda in the soviet times. New Year is the most important holiday of year now and Christmas is sidelined. Though I'm waiting for some guests tomorrow, but this is just an occasion to meet friends, but not an important holiday as it is in the west.

Flott mynd Begga. Við hjónakornin stoppuðum í Varmahlíð um 23:35 á gamlárdagskvöld og horfðum á flugelda Skagfirðinga. Keyrðum úr Rvík :-)

An absolutely stunning photograph, Begga!!! Marvellous capture. I think you could sell this somewhere (I suggest talking to Ragga!!! :-D :-D) I for one would love a really large, wide version of this to frame and put on the wall...

Wow, looks like everyone shoots off fireworks there. I guess the wind was enough to disturb your photo. It's frustrating when things don't quite work out, but's that's a photographers lot, I guess!
Posted 11 months ago. ( permalink )
Pixiepro replies:
Well, that's because everyone IS shooting off fireworks! Almost every family in Iceland buys fireworks for that night and shoots them off from their own backyard or from the street in front of their house... it's a total chaos, but quite magnificent too! :o)

Gaman að sjá rakettur!! Rakettur með priki bannaðar í Noregi:þ(
Posted 11 months ago. ( permalink )
Pixiepro replies:
Bannaðar? Er þetta þá svipað og í Danmörku þar sem allt gengur út á sem mestan hávaða? ;o) Því meiri hvellur, því betra... þeir eru að flytja inn ólöglegar tertur í stórum stíl frá Þýskalandi til að fá sem mestu hvellina :D

Upplifði gamlárskvöld í Hrísey - mun rólegra!! Fannst raunar farið að ganga nokkuð út í öfgar í þá gömlu "góðu" :-) Kannski kreppan sé að koma okkur aðeins niður á jörðina. Fátt er svo með öllu illt o.s.frv.

Pixiepro replies:
Er reyndar alveg sammála þér... og ég væri sko alveg til í að vera á "rólegum" stað yfir áramótin einhverntíman :o) Ertu Hríseyingur?
