Wilderness trail

I really love the evening light here in the summer... this is another photo from my evening with the girls (Ragga, Gurrý and Sigrún) and this is the road we traveled to get to lake Djúpavatn :o)

I really recommend this one be viewed larger for an "on site" wilderness effect :o)

I live at the 49th parallel now, so I don't get the late summer light like you do, but I agree with you. The light in the northern summers has a glow all it's own!

Awesome!! I love this! (I feel the need to request a nice big wallpaper of this one, Begga!!! :D) Superb lighting and extra-nice composition. I know someone (do you remember my web-site?) who travelled around Iceland on just such tracks... This opens my eyes so much! :) :)

Yes I remember your website! :o) Maybe I should do more of taking photos of those less traveled trails... I love such places and I'm very happy to share them! Thank you Nigel :o)

a few days ago i was watching cabtle tv, discovery channel or similar..there was a
programme about (in the 70's?) a volcanic eruption on iceland where the lava
flow was threatening to engulf a fishing harbour/fishing port completely.
everbody organised all these hoses and pumps and they cooled the lava flow
with seawater - 60 tons of water a minute through the fire hoses ..made it
solidify before it destroyed the harbour. i thought it would be impossible - it was
so desperate - but they succeeded in doing it.
Posted 11 months ago. ( permalink )
Pixiepro replies:
Yes, it was a volcano on the Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar) just off the mainland. It erupted on 23rd of January 1973 and I remember waking up to the news! All the inhabitants were evacuated to the mainland in the night by fishing boats... and then after a while they began the work you described saving their harbour :o)

Once i knew a girl. She had a way to work on that she saw a lot of scenes like this every morning. Do you know this VERY huge trucks used at open pit mining sites? It was (is) her job, driving such a thing.

But we lost contact :(

Every time i see such pictures i think of f*king huge yellow trucks, the girl, and her way to work.

Pixiepro replies:
Hehe... that must have been one hell of a girl! And yes, I know the kind of trucks you're talking about... wouldn't mind shooting one of those, I love heavy machinery! :o)
Posted 11 months ago. ( permalink )
Dirkpro replies:
Well, she wasn’t that “heavy” at all. Average physique, friendly and nice. This trucks are heavy, but you don’t need much muscular strenght to drive such things (just a lot of concentration and overview), she said :)
