The magic of electrons and magnetic fields..


Another photo from the midnight trip with Ragga, Gurrý and Sigrún Th.

Those northern lights were almost not visible to the naked eye, but we knew they were there... it's strange, you click the button and then wait while the camera absorbs the scene... then when it has finished... voila! green sky with northern lights! :o)

Of course we did also have strong bands of green, very much visible to the naked eye, dancing and whipping in the night sky... they are magical!

Well, those particular northern lights were not very strong, almost invisible, I guess the camera captures the light better because of the long exposure time... but then we also had strong bands of very visible lights, dancing and whipping across the sky :o)

The northern lights are caused by electrons colliding with the Earth's magnetosphere ;o)
