The original castle in Schengen was built in the 14th century. In the 1793 it was bought by Charles Joseph Collart, a wealthy medicin and steel producer. His son, Jean-Nicolas, had the castle demolished in 1812. All that remained, was the round central tower. With the original material, Jean-Nicolas established a impressive manor house.
