This very large fungus that was growing on a dead tree in a woods in Etowah County, Alabama. The flower- like part is at least 8 inched across. (DSC05671)

I think this may be aleuria aurantia, the orange peel fungus also called the great orange elf cup. One area have quite a few of these growing together. Others were more solitary. Taken at Camp Sumatanga, Etowah County, Alabama. (DSC05658)
