Marksburg (PiP)
Die Marksburg in Braubach am Rhein wurde urkundlich erstmals im Jahr 1231 erwähnt. Vermutet wird, dass sie schon vor 1219 existierte. Sie steht auf einem 160 Meter hohen Schieferkegel. Als einzige mittelalterliche Höhenburg am Mittelrhein wurde sie nie zerstört. Ursprünglich hieß sie Burg Brubach, dann Sankt Marxpurgk, Markenburch zu Braubach, Schloss Marxburg und auch Markusburg. Der Bergfried (Turm) ist ca. 40 Meter hoch.
