Campbell House - Master Bedroom

Campbell House - Master Bedroom
It was lifted up off the ground to try to avoid the winter drafts, and warming pans would be stuck under the blankets before bedtime, so the bed would be as warm as possible when the people got into it. Then they'd pull the curtains closed around the bed, to try to preserve heat that way.

From the website, Campbell House, built in 1822, is the oldest remaining building from the original town of York. It is a classical example of Georgian architecture, a rare find in Toronto.
