Queen Wharf 1833

Queen Wharf 1833
Discovered while Malibu Investments was excavating for the foundation of a condominium.

The wharf was built in 1833 to service Fort York, which would be some ways to the left in this photo.

I'm standing on the sidewalk with Lakeshore Boulevard directly behind me. In 1833, the shore of Lake Ontario came right up to this spot, though the shore was later extended quite a distance farther into the Lake.

To the immediate right is Bathurst Street; this excavation is right at the corner of the two streets.

Trying to give some idea of how it keeps going, under the ground that hasn't been dug.
