Do you know what’s in this window?

I normally know quite well what I photograph. But this time I’m at a loss.

I was walking through a local street of Manchester (Wilmslow Road) in the United Kingdom, when I unexpectedly saw this shop’s window just filled with stacks of colors. It was some kind of pastry shop with two men behind the counter and one man, the chef presumably, working behind the stack. The last men saw I was overwhelmed by the whole ensemble and waved to me. I barely noticed hem doing so. But somehow, in the midst of all of this, I managed to make this shot.

However after that I forgot to take a look at what I was looking at, to taste it or even ask a question about it. It was a really strange feeling. Like a dream or something. When I got home I first thought it was Turkish delight or lokum. It has the same color variations and also looks like it’s made from starch and sugar. On the other hand, it’s a bit too big and has no icing sugar or copra. Also Googling didn’t result in something substantial or even remotely logical. So, I’m back to square 1.

Therefore any suggestion on what this is, is welcome.
