From standing still springbocks can jump up to 3.5 meters. Sometimes they perform very specific jumps in which they have their legs straightened. This looks rather funny, like being spring loaded. Our guide told us that they jump that way when they are excited or not knowing what is going on. A more scientific explanation is given in wikipedia, that it is to warn their fellows or signal to predators that they have been recognized and attacks are useless.
