Kingfisher - Newhaven Harbour - 01.12.2015

Kingfisher - Newhaven Harbour - 01.12.2015
I am thrilled to have photographed this little bird. I first spotted it flying along the quayside. It was gone before I could turn round and certainly too quickly for me to change lenses. I went on down beyond the lifeboat house and took some shots of the rather cloudy sunset. On my way back upstream I saw it again. This time flying in the same direction as I was going. So I kept looking as I walked along by the harbour wall and then I came upon it sitting on a timber block just above the rising tide. It wasn't easy to get a clear view as there was a Buddleia bush in the way and the light was also fading. As a result I have had to sharpen and brighten the image to get to this standard, but as it is my first Kingfisher photo. I don't really mind too much.

Roger (Grisly) has particularly liked this photo
