I'm torn about the issue of cropping out the person. I can see the point of it, but on the other hand the figure establishes a diagonal with the shadow and adds a touch of the real to the idealized view of the bike and beach. But back on the first hand I can see that the perspective would appear far stronger with the person cropped out. I suspect they'd be equally striking in different ways. I love the light; that's the idealizer. Having the bright light on the shadowy side of the bike is an important of that. To me, of course. Your aesthetic pleasure may vary.

The little figure does give a clue to the way the beach shelves. There is only one breakwater at the eastern end of the beach, so it is re-profiled a couple of times a year, with half a dozen big dumper trucks, a bucket loader and a bulldozer shifting shingle from the ends to the middle of the beach.
I don't think that any of my previous photos has received such analytical critiques! It is interesting to hear what people think. So much better than the dreaded 'Excellent capture!' If a photo grabs my attention then I will make a comment which says what has appealed. There are so many brilliant photos on this and other sites that one could spend all day making banal one-liners. Anyway thanks for your thoughts.
