What a lovely selection of different boats and styles, almost a case of something for everyone. We lived in Kingston-Upon-Thames for a few years when I first started teaching and would see everything from narrow boats to the proverbial 'floating gin palaces' on the river there; some things I miss about city life, but I'm a Welshman and a valleys boy at heart so I had to get back home before I retired.

When I was in the Cadets, circa 1963, we used to sail at Raven's Ait, so I remember the area a bit. But it was difficult to take in the view when watching out for the swinging boom, while endlessly tacking, on the relatively narrow river!
