Gulls flock over Edinburgh Road, Seaford - 21.1.2014

Gulls flock over Edinburgh Road, Seaford - 21.1.2014
Having travelled back from Cuckmere, I changed buses. While waiting for the town service, several groups of gulls, as large as this lot, came from inland and headed down towards the sea. I don't know if flocking is the correct term, as they weren't swirling around like starlings do.

Very nice picture. When the water rats fly inland I think it presages a storm.

When we lived in London and they arrived in our local park, we always knew that there was bad weather on the coast.
Here, by the sea, they are back and forth all the time. Our local Herring Gulls have been joined by Black-backed and Black-headed Gulls for the winter. There are quite big mixed flocks on the water meadows in the Ouse and Cuckmere Valleys.
