Thiepval

Thiepval
Monument to those who fell during the Battle of the Somme in 1916. The headstones on the left mark British and Commonwealth graves; the crosses on the right mark French graves. The names of 72000 soldiers whose remains were never found or identified are inscribed on the monument itself.
Taken during a Wendover U3A visit to World War One battlefields.
