Yuccas on the Lano Estacado

Yuccas on the Lano Estacado
Yuccas grow well in hot dry climates. They can store water and too much rainfall can injure or even cause them to die. Please press Z for a larger view on black :)))

Yuccas are amazing. There are a few around the island where I live, not too many and not because of the climate but because people don't like them too much. I planted one in my backyard because it reminds me of New Mexico. It grows very well in spite of the year-long humidity and cold winter temperatures. It even blooms once in a while :)

Nicholas, I was not too surprised that you have Yuccas on your island. Courtesy of some travelers bringing them home from a holiday no doubt. As you know they are abundant in New Mexico, also here in parts of Texas. They are very popular in home and public gardens here because of their many blooms and striking appearance. Perhaps also because they don't require much care :)) I hope yours will give you some flowers this year! Best regards, Michael
