WINDOW OF DAFFS
There are thousands of varieties of Daffodils in the State of North Carolina USA
- these 2 yellows have multi-petals and begin to bloom after the 'regular' Trumpet Daffs have started
- if you look very carefully, you can count the layers of petals
- the one top Left is quite different than any others in the yard
- it has been named "Alien Daff" since it begins with a solid green bud that looks Alien

- since Daffodils ignore the weather
- they are the main bloomers in the Garden of Surprises
- Thomas Panther Catt is our neighbor
- a black feline [ who owns the neighborhood ]
- is the Guardian of Humans as well as flowers
-Thomas P stops by daily just to check everything out
- now, if I could just get him past the Supervisor level
- to digging in the dirt with me .......

- on Daffs in the Garden Of Surprises
- we go from rain
- to overcast skies and no clouds
- and today, 13 Feb 2019 .. Sunshine ~
In North Carolina during Februrary and March -
Never know what the weather will be -
So, still looking for a 'March Snow' -
Still think dart boards are used to predict weather here -
It is tough because of the Mountains in the western part of the State -
The Piedmont [ where we are ] -
And then the flat lands of the Eastern part of NC -
When I check the weather for the day -
If it says, " 30% chance of rain " -
That means 70% chance that it won't rain -

- of yesterday, Feb 9, 2019
- sunshine and upper 40 degrees F and windy
- Daffs always bloom early here in North Carolina
- they have been known to pop up through the snow
- weather doesn't seem to bother them too much
4 PiP across top -
.. 48 deg F is about the norm in Feb, but today it is colder and I'm not headed out the door unless there is something really important that won't last til tomorrow [ not that it'll be any warmer ] --
.. but, The Daff Gals are always a bright sign ~

- as of Feb 7, 2019
- it is still not Spring for 41 days
- but, today the temperature was in the 80s
- almost like Florida weather, but without the humidity
- temperature will go down
- and down as the norm for this time of year in North Carolina
- but, until it does
- it will be enjoyed [ can you imagine having ceiling fans on in February ? ]
- well, they are !
- this photo of Daffs-to-be are surrounded by various stages of Arrowroot
- most will get pulled up, but the birds are enjoying what can be found under it all

.. years ago I found a recipe book with the title KISS
.. it stood for Keep It Simple Stupid
.. all recipes had 5 or fewer ingredients
.. but later in life, I've used the KISS idea
.. changed to Keep It Simple Sweetheart
.. looking at the weekend, it shall be a KISS one

TheViceroy butterfly is smaller in size than a Monarch; has a darker orange color and shows a black line that crosses the hindwing.
This bright surprise topped off a sunshine day [ that we probably won't see again for awhile ] -
If Florence has her say -
One good thing about living in Florida so many years -
Had Hurricane-prep down to a science !
Just thought I might not have to do it in North Carolina -
Ha -
Surprise - surprise --
Got the staples -
Got each other -
Books - playing cards and other things pre-computer !
Now, do not plan on not having power, but that is beyond my control -
If you don't see me for a few days -
Check NOAA -
See if they were correct and Flo came right on top of us !
Oh, got plenty of wine -
Mr C can have the water :)

“The soul is the same in all living creatures,
although the body of each is different.”
- Hippocrates
- from an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterfly -
nectaring on Koreanspice Viburnum
and several different bees -- it makes one wonder about being close to another without doing any harm -- they respected the space of the other -- no disagreements
- it put my vision of most of humanity on a lower level than the butterfly and the bee

When visiting a beautiful photo by Jaap -
www.ipernity.com/doc/294067/46896226
His is much better, in my opinion -
The composition flows better, I think -
But I just wanted to see what I could do -
With Day Lily inserts and a sea of green and Viburnum blooms -
Top Left corner - Double/Triple petal Kwanso
Across is Bonanza -
Below Red Velvet Jazz ( don't look it up .. cause I named her ! )
Bottom Left - Buttery Yellow Dust [ that's her name for this year ] .. petals are 8"across -
Background is Koreanspice Viburnum and things that probably sting !
Thank you for the inspiration, Jaap -
