. . . abandoned

-- UPDATE: Our son drove past this the other day; part of the structure is gone; there are piles of old bricks - perhaps to be re-purposed? But .... he said there are very large steel beams behind this area of the building .... hope ?
-- Will try to get newer photos and post them

.....

no longer needed -
this building, about 100,000 sq ft -
has remained basically unused -
for 43 yrs -
some storage in there -
but present owners say -
' it would cost too much to fix ' -

excuse me -
why didn't you bother to keep it in repair -
must not have worked with ' your bottom line ' -
I.E. profits -

who cares if it is old -
has more history than you care about -

no, am not happy with you at all -
reading through the History of Burlington [ by souls who know what they are writing about ] -
so many Historical Structures are gone -

really thought this town had learned that keeping history alive is important -
but, supposed it hasn't -
history still isn't worth saving -

1 Note - the Original Building -

Congratulations! Sorry but that is the way these days...replace is cheaper than maintain.

Reminds me of South Gate Publix ---- that was not done as we were told it would be .... Mr George is probably turning over in his grave ! Still .....
Do you recall the huge Oak [ about 100 yrs old ] that '' was in the way of the design of the Polk Museum '' ... it was cut down ....
People just don't think ...
It was years before I crossed the threshold of that place - and it was only because the daughter of a good friend had art on display --- otherwise, still would have remained outside.
Yes, do tend to hold grudges --- some things shouldn't happen --- IF one thinks 1st !!!
Rant over ...

Peggy, these old brick pigeon hotels make me very sad. Sometimes even angry, as you mention. I always wish I could own one. My gallery has many examples on this side of the country.

Diane, when some areas find the people/funds to re-purpose these old buildings .... why can't others wrap their brains around it?
Guess I'll never understand some people ....

Oh, I feel the same way. In my town it seems very few people care, even the city gov't.
