Lake Morton is a bird sanctuary ..
Swans - Geese - Gulls - Ducks - Moorhens -
And anyone else who flies in -

This is what it looked like in 2008 -
Have found no photos of Lake Morton since Hurricane Irma went through -
Neighborhoods all around, with homes that are classic -
Damaged .. hope not beyond repair -

This was one of my favorite places to study waterbirds and takes 100s if not thousands of photos -
Never knowing how precious those digital memories would become -
But the lake .. all the waterbirds ... what has happened ?

So do I, Smiley ...
It began many years ago with a gift of mated Swans from Queen Elizabeth ....

These descendants have been cared for ... they all have yearly check-ups from a local vet (now his son).

It is an Oasis in the middle of a busy city

Thanks, Andy ---- I would go and sit by the lake and take photo after photo (that is when I learned even my Canon A-80 could be3 put on silent).

Continuous mode and silent = many shots !

I just wonder where they are? Can find nothing in the local newspaper about rounding them up before Irma.
They are used to a once yearly round-up for health checks.

The neighborhood where we lived is under-going major utility line and sub-station repairs. The house where we lived .. power in maybe 2 to 3 more days.
2000 without power -- have probably grilled everything in the fridge and freezer by now !

Daughter in Montana called last night -- part of the state has snow and part has rain ... " great for clearing the air, Mom" .... they have lost over 2million acres in wildfires -- that doesn't even count the other states and Canada ...
