Preparing sugarcane 

First time I sampled sugar cane. You suck it, and it's sweet and juicy - but I still would't trade it for candy! Most kids didn't like it and threw it away after trying a bite ...

Before the juice can be extracted, the leaves and tops have to be taken off the stalks.

Zuckerrohr schmeckt ganz gut, aber ich wurde es trotzdem nicht gegen Bonbons eintauschen wollen. Es ist so, als ob man auf suessem, holzigen Spargel kaut ;-)

Bevor der Saft ausgepresst werden kann, muessen die Blaetter und Bluete von den Stangen entfernt werden.
