I never heard of a black walnut, does it taste the same?

Honestly I don't know. I had a whole bag full from another tree (you cannot take anything out of the national park), but I just couldn't get them out of the husk. And I would have to use rubber gloves for that work anyway, because you cannot get the stain off your hands. So I gave up before I could actually taste one.
